Product Description like new
Editorial Review Long recognized as role-playing games par excellence, the Final Fantasy series gets a technological makeover in this installment (and series debut on the PlayStation). Shedding the two-dimensional graphics and limited sound capabilities of its predecessors, Final Fantasy VII features lush 3-D graphics, beautifully animated "movie" sequences, and soundtrack-quality music. Coupled with the game's intricate storyline, endearing characters, and immense yet highly imaginative world, these new advancements make for a quite an engrossing experience. The story of Final Fantasy VII centers around a solider named Cloud Strife, who joins forces with Avalanche, a group of resistance fighters, to take down an evil mega-corporation known as Shinra. (The fate of the world hangs in the balance, of course.) Truly epic in scope, this four-disc game requires a considerable amount of time to complete---this reviewer gladly gave up over 80 hours of his life to finish it. But it's definitely a rewarding adventure that every PlayStation owner should consider undertaking, especially since it's now one of the low-priced "Greatest Hits" titles. --Joe Hon Pros: - Intricate and absorbing storyline with endearing characters
- Immense and highly imaginative game world
- Special battle system
- Beautifully animated movie sequences
Cons: - Your friends and family may feel neglected

Greatest video game experience of the 90's January 7, 2009 Z. McCoy (USA) As someone who plays video games mainly for storylines and character development, this is by and far my favorite RPG experience. I would probably be classified as a fanboy; owning action figures and soundtracks of Final Fantasy games, but I believe this is one of the greatest stories ever told about a group of freedom fighters going up against great forces of evil. At times epic and heartbreaking, mind bending and deep in religious undertones, FF7 is a story that takes place in another world but reflects many aspects of war and greed in our own.
final fantasy 7 December 22, 2008 M. Vanderwegen this by far is one of the greatest rpgs of all time very good story great characters and nice visuals
Final Fantasy VII December 20, 2008 Asis Tyrax (Nevada) Part of the turn-based Canon of modern video games, FFVII features a detailed storyline which develops through long campaigns and optional side missions which yeild items, experience, and other useful results to help the player defeat his archnemesis, Sephiroth. This kind of gameplay focuses on third person turn-based strategy, so fans of first person shooters or real-time strategy should move on from this title. Otherwise, prepare for a gaming experience of many hours and even more monsters and heroes in a battle to save their world.
Upset December 15, 2008 Jon (Rancho Cucamonga, Ca) I got this game 11 years ago and couldn't stand it. Only played it for about 20 minutes. I thought I was reading a book not playing a video game so I gave it away. 11 years later I played crisis core final fantasy 7 for the psp and thought "wow this is a good story" so I decided to play the original Final Fantasy 7, to my surprise it was selling for well over 100 dollars, then I thought this must be a really good game. Come to find out this is a true masterpiece, after playing it I am hooked on Final Fantasy, they have such a wonderfully story, the graphics are always state of the art. And they are timeless treasures you can come back to even 11 years and say wow.
Outstanding December 15, 2008 Nicholas Wood I recently purchased this game and I really like it so far. It has some points in which you can choose what you say to other characters. And so far I've been able to name a few characters myself, which is another interesting thing in games these days. I'm playing it on my Playstation 2 and the only dissapointment I've seen is that you can't move with the analog stick. However, it's just a minor let down, it is for playstation one after all. The story so far has been very interesting, I'm eager to learn where Cloud and Sephiroth's apparent relation came from. A new copy may cost alot, but I think it's worth it.
